Our Mission. . .
To give all children who enter here our Christian love, by providing nuturing, safe, stimulating care. The well-being and education of every child is our goal as we serve God through serving others.
We are pleased to have an excellent Child Development Center as part of our ministry at Berea Friendship UMC. It is our goal to give all children enrolled in our center nurturing, safe, stimulating care in a loving Christian environment. The well-being and education of every child is our goal as we serve God through serving others.
We are proud that most of the staff at our child development center has been with us for several years. Our CDC is registered with the South Carolina Department of Social Services and not only meets, but exceeds, state requirements for teacher/child ratios. All our teachers:
- are fingerprinted and have a background check by SLED (State Law Enforcement Department).
- are trained in CPR and First Aid.
- complete continuing education courses on an ongoing basis.
Our center uses HighReach Learning curriculum, a highly respected educational program designed to teach your child both the academic and social skills needed to be happy and productive. Ours is a consistent learning environment that uses themes and integrated learning to reinforce concepts and skills. Because all children process information differently, we offer a balance of child-initiated and teacher-facilitated activities to stimulate visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning. Daily activities include a focus on:
- Language
- Movement
- Art/Creativity
- Science
- Health
- Pre-Math Skills
- Music
- Safety
- Diversity
- Spiritual Growth
Our center is open Monday through Friday, from 6:30 AM till 6 PM. Full time or Part-time care is available on a daily basis from 9 AM - 2 PM or 6:30 a.m. to 6:p.m. We accept children from 6 weeks of age through 24 months in our Infant Care program, and offer preschool for 2-, 3-, and 4-year-olds. Care is available for older children during our Summer Program.
Fees include:
- Hot lunches
