Special Events
Each year Berea Friendship UMC holds several special events that are a lot of fun and typically help a cause. These events offer a chance to work and socialize with fellow members, allow us to use our time and talents for the benefit of our Lord and our community, and provide a wonderful opportunity to meet friends and neighbors who may be looking for a church home. Special events always require lots of help, from advanced planning, to set-up, to participation, to clean-up; if you have a particular area of interest or ability, call the church office at 864-246-4311 and let us know. We'll be happy to put you to work!
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
The Quilters' Annual Christmas Bazaar is always the first weekend in November, 8 AM - 8 PM on that Friday, and 8 AM -1 PM on that Saturday. Meals are available for purchase throughout the day on Friday, including a delicious breakfast of sausage biscuits or gravy biscuits , homemade vegetable soup and all the fixings for lunch, and a hot dog supper to wrap things up. Plan to come early, because the Berea Friendship Bazaar has a long and glorious history and there is always a crowd waiting when the doors open. Many families have a tradition of coming every year to shop and stock up on homemade jams and jellies, mouthwatering baked goods, and beautiful handcrafted gifts. Our Quilters work all year long creating items to sell. If you enjoy crafting, quilting, sewing, canning, or baking, or if you'd enjoy meeting with a group of industrious and entertaining women every week, you might be interested in joining our Quilters group.
GARAGE SALE - The date for this event varies from year to year, but is usually in the spring. Sponsored by our United Methodist Men, it's always a great time of fun and fellowship and you'll never leave without a bargain! Donations are accepted all year long; church members can place unwanted items, in good condition, at the back wall of the gym or call the church office at 246-4311 if you need something picked up. Proceeds go to the Men's Club to fund various church projects. Call Ron Failor at 294-9755 if you need something picked up or if you are not a member of BFUMC but have items you would like to donate. And if you'd enjoy getting together with a great group of guys to do a good deed or enjoy good Christian fellowship once a month, consider becoming a part of United Methodist Men; they'd love to have you!
FALL FESTIVAL OR "TRUNK OR TREAT" - The date for this event varies from year to year, too--as does the event itself--but we always have a family-friendly event of some kind in October. Check our News and Events page for details on fall events.
VISITS FROM THE BLOODMOBILE - Periodically, BFUMC hosts the Bloodmobile from the Blood Connection to make it easy for our members and others to donate the precious, lifesaving gift of their blood. These visits are announced well in advance and a sign-up sheet is usually made available, although walk-ups are also welcome, as time permits. Check our News and Events page for updates on the next Bloodmobile visit.
